Goring Congregational Church was opened in August 1940 due to the foresight of members of the Congregational Church in the centre of Worthing.  The congregation at that time was about 30 and met for worship in the local school .

After the war, in 1948 a combined purpose built church/hall was opened [now used as our main hall].

In September 1961 the present Church was opened, and became the United Reformed Church in 1972.

Nationally, the United Reformed Church was inaugurated after the amalgamation of the Congregational Church and the Presbyterian Church.
